What Is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal reduces unwanted hair growth. It uses selective photothermolysis, a method where laser light targets melanin in the hair.
The light heats the follicle. This damage slows or stops regrowth. Surrounding skin stays safe. The treatment works best on dark hair. Blonde and white hair responds less due to low melanin.
Results depend on the hair growth cycle. Lasers are most effective during the anagen phase.
How Does It Work?
A laser beam enters the skin. Melanin absorbs the light. The follicle heats up until it can no longer grow hair.
For the best results, treatment sessions target hairs in the active growth phase. Because hair grows in three stages, multiple sessions are needed.
Want smooth, confident skin? Book your affordable laser hair removal at Evolved today.
Who Is a Good Candidate for Laser Treatments?
Laser hair removal is suitable for both men and women with dark hair, and at Evolved Clinics, our advanced laser machines can safely treat all skin types, including darker skin tones.
Laser treatments are an excellent choice for:
- People with medical conditions like PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) or hirsutism
- Clients following religious or cultural traditions
- Individuals transitioning or exploring gender-affirming care
No matter your background or hair growth concern, our clinic ensures safe, effective, and personalized treatments for every client.
How Permanent Is Laser Hair Removal?
The permanence of laser hair removal depends on the area of the body and the type of hair:
- Thick, coarse hair: Up to 85–90% reduction in growth
- Fine hair: Around 45–60% reduction
Facial hair may require additional sessions, especially for older women, due to hormonal changes, ageing, or medication side effects.
Our team designs treatment plans to maximize results, giving you long-lasting, smooth skin while managing expectations.
Can Laser Be Performed on the Full Body?
Absolutely! Laser hair removal can be performed anywhere on the body, and full-body treatments are increasingly popular. Both men and women choose full-body laser, including sensitive areas like the genitals, underarms, legs, arms, and back.
With Evolved Clinics’ medical-grade lasers, full-body treatments are safe, precise, and effective, making hair-free confidence achievable from head to toe.
IPL Hair Removal vs Laser Hair Removal: What’s the Difference?
Many people confuse IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) with laser hair removal, but they are very different treatments.
How IPL Works
- IPL uses a broad spectrum of light, similar to a light bulb, rather than a focused laser.
- The light disperses in many directions, meaning only a small portion reaches the hair follicle, resulting in minimal hair destruction.
- IPL is generally suitable only for skin types 1–3, as darker skin tones (types 4–6) carry more melanin and are at higher risk of burns.
How Laser Hair Removal Works
- A laser emits light of a single wavelength, allowing deeper penetration and precise targeting of the hair follicle.
- Surrounding skin stays safe, reducing the risk of burns or irritation.
- At Evolved Clinics, our medical-grade lasers are effective on all skin types and hair types, providing safe, long-lasting results.
Why Choose Laser Over IPL?
- More effective: Targets hair follicles directly for better hair reduction.
- Safer for all skin types: Minimizes risk of burns or hyperpigmentation.
- Long-lasting results: Achieve smoother, hair-free skin faster and with fewer sessions.
Choosing the right hair removal method can make a huge difference in comfort, results, and safety. At Evolved Clinics, we ensure that every client receives the best treatment for their skin type and hair texture.
What is Dermaplaning? What Is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal is a form of permanent reduction of hair growth. The primary principle behind laser hair removal is selective photothermolysis, where the laser light energy heats the target, which is the dark pigment of the hair called melanin.
The laser will only target the melanin, which absorbs the light energy, eventually heating the hair follicle and causing enough damage to slow or prevent regrowth.
Since the laser light is absorbed by dark material in the hair, it will only cause damage to the hair follicle but not the surrounding tissues.
This is why laser hair removal only works on darker hairs, not blonde or white hair, as there is not much melanin for the laser light to absorb.
It is also essential to understand the hair growth cycle process, as laser only permanently disables hairs in the anagen phase.
How Does The Procedure Work?
The laser fires a beam of light to the skin absorbed by the melanin in the hair follicle. The hair follicle temperature is heated enough to destroy the hair follicle, preventing it from growing back.
The target timing for laser treatment is at the anagen hair growth phase for successful reduction of hair.
To completely understand how a laser works, there are three stages of hair growth
Who Is A Good Candidate For Laser Treatments?
Laser hair removal is ideal for men and women with dark hair, but at Evolved Clinics, our advanced medical-grade lasers can safely treat all skin types, including darker tones. It’s an excellent solution for people with medical conditions like PCOS or hirsutism, as well as clients with religious or cultural considerations. Our treatments are also suitable for transgender individuals seeking effective hair reduction.
How Permanent Is Laser Hair Removal?
The results depend on the body area and hair type.
- Thick, coarse hair: Up to 85–90% reduction in hair growth.
- Fine hair: Typically 45–60% reduction.
Facial hair often requires more sessions due to hormonal changes, aging, or medication effects that can stimulate new hair growth.
Can Laser Be Performed On The Full Body?
Yes! Laser hair removal can be performed on any part of the body, making it popular for full-body treatments. Both men and women can benefit from full-body laser hair removal, including sensitive areas like the genitals, all done safely and effectively.
Laser hair removal is safe!
Our Laser clinicians receive rigorous training before performing treatments on clients,

The entire team at Evolved must hold a Level 4 Certificate in Laser and IPL hair removal treatments or equivalent, which ensure safe practice.
All clients are required to undergo a full consultation and patch test 48 hours before attending their first treatment. The patch test will ensure you are suitable for the laser and determine any skin reactions.
With laser hair removal, there is minimal damage to the skin as the light only targets the melanin in the hair.

IPL Hair Removal vs Laser Hair Removal: Key Differences
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) and laser hair removal are often confused, but they work very differently.
IPL Hair Removal:
- Uses a broad spectrum of light wavelengths, similar to a light bulb.
- The light disperses in multiple directions, so only a small portion is absorbed by hair follicles, leading to minimal hair destruction.
- Best suited for lighter skin types (Fitzpatrick 1–3).
- Higher risk of burns for darker skin types (4–6) due to excess melanin.
Laser Hair Removal:
- Uses a single wavelength of light, allowing for precise targeting of hair follicles without harming surrounding skin.
- Penetrates deeper, providing more effective and lasting results.
At Evolved Clinics, our lasers are safe and effective for all skin and hair types, delivering optimal results with minimal risk.

Frequently Asked Questions
We recommend medical-grade lasers that are suitable for your hair and skin type. There are several lasers on the market, and our laser treats all skin types and hair types.
The number of sessions needed varies from client to client and depends on the area being treated, hair density, coarseness, thickness etc. Usually, if clients do not have any underlying medical issues, then our clients have seen excellent results within 6-12 treatments. If you are treating the face, you will need more treatments as the face is very hormonal.
We recommend you start with a course of 8 treatments. Our trained clinician will be able to recommend the ideal number during your consultation.
Yes, as long as the laser is an Nd-YAG designed to treat darker skins with minimal damage to surrounding tissues. Do not use IPL or Alex lasers as these have a high risk of burns on darker skin.
The procedure will remove at least three weeks of dead skin cells, so your red-carpet glow will last all month long. Since your skin is continually growing, you should schedule an appointment every month to maintain your results.
Redness and irritation – the skin may tingle, have mild swelling or redness due to the treated hair follicles.
Raised bumps – hair follicles treated with a laser may cause slightly raised bumps, but these go down within 48-72 hours.
Unfortunately, we cannot treat where the tattoo is as this will damage the skin tissues, such as severe burns and blistering due to the pigment present in the tattoo. Remember laser targets the colour of the hair follicle, and tattoos are very rich in colour. If you have a tattoo on the treatment area, our clinicians will mark it out and work around it, leaving a 2-inch gap to avoid any possible complications.
Over the long term, laser hair removal is worth it. You may need a few treatments to get the desired results, but you will be able to avoid waxing, tweezing or shaving for years and only have minimal regrowth of hairs on areas that are treated with laser.
That all depends on which part of the body you laser. For, e.g., the chest and back will take about an hour for each session, while the face might only require 15 minutes.
The simple answer is Yes. We have many clients with laser hair removal in the pubic area. Our team of professionals use a medical grade laser on all skin types to ensure that we are getting rid of hairs for good, without any side effects
Crusting – some clients may experience crusting in the treated area. This can occur if the hair is very thick and coarse but resolves typically within 10 days. The important thing to remember is not to pick the area as this can lead to scarring.
Pigment changes (changes in skin colour) – This occurs if you fail to ensure your skin is clean on the day of the treatment meaning no oil products or creams. If you have been away on holiday and have a tan, you must inform your clinician as treatment cannot be carried out due to darker skin, leading to possible hypo/hyperpigmentation. Usually, skin colour changes are temporary, and eventually, the skin returns to normal.
Folliculitis infections – are rare but can occur if you have a history of irritant folliculitis secondary to shaving. We advise all clients to shave two days before treatment with a clean razor. Dirty old razors can trigger folliculitis infections. You must notify your clinician of any skin irritation before laser hair removal, as we will require your skin to settle or undergo antibiotic treatment.
Burns or blistering – this is very rare but can occur. Therefore it is essential to undergo treatment by a qualified clinician.
