What Is a Skin Mole?
Moles are common skin growths that can appear anywhere on the body, most often on the face and neck. They can range in color from pink, light brown, dark brown, to black and may be flat or raised, smooth or bumpy, sometimes even with hair. Most people have 10–40 moles, which may change or fade over time.
What Causes Skin Moles? Moles form when melanocytes, the skin cells that produce melanin, grow in clusters. These natural pigments give your skin its color, and when concentrated, they create a mole.
What Do Healthy Moles Look Like?
Moles are tiny, soft, and round. Brownish-grey to tan colour may be smooth or wrinkled, flat or raised. The moles might have hair growing from them.
Moles are usually round or oval
Moles are generally tiny, about 6 millimetres or less in diameter — roughly the size of a pencil eraser. Moles can occasionally be much larger at birth (congenital nevi).
Can I Remove or Reduce a Mole for Cosmetic Reasons?
Most moles are harmless, but regular checks by a dermatologist are essential to rule out any risk of skin cancer. For cosmetic reasons, moles can be removed or reduced safely using electrolysis, which is less painful and more affordable than surgery or laser treatments.
At Evolved Aesthetics Clinic, we use advanced electrolysis techniques to safely remove moles while ensuring minimal discomfort and effective results.
